First People’s Principles of Learning

I am forever grateful to be living and learning on the traditional, unceded territories of the Tk’emlúps te Secwe̓pemc People. I thank them for the use of their sacred land.

This site has been very eye-opening for me both as a future teacher and person in general. I think all of the principles are so well constructed and altogether hit pretty much every aspect of different learning styles. Such concepts as simple patience and time, incorporating well-being, and of course Indigenous knowledge into how we teach are important and brought to life with these principles. They serve as an amazing sort of guideline for which we can operate through and personally, as a white male in Canada I find them super valuable for better understanding difference. This is a hard subject area for me to relate with and therefore incorporate into my practice, so I am thankful for its’ inception and I look forward to seeing it more throughout my educational journey.
